Decatur Macon County Opportunities Corporation (DMCOC) unveiled a new logo on Thursday, August 24, at 10:00 am in front of their office on Marietta St. in Decatur.

The logo was selected as part of a design contest that began in late June which gave members of the community an opportunity to submit concepts by July 20. The DMCOC board reviewed all of the submitted logo concepts and selected the winning design in early August. The winning logo was designed by Creative Media Services, Inc. The design met all of the specified criteria, including incorporating the characteristic hands and heart of the Community Action Partnership, and the new logo will be easily recognizable with the bold DMCOC letters while remaining timeless in the years ahead.

The new logo will continue to use the maroon and gold colors from the older logo while incorporating the heart and hands graphics in gold, symbolizing the 50 years DMCOC has provided services in Decatur and Macon County. The heart and hands embodies the spirit of hope. It will help make the community a better place to live while helping others in the fight against poverty. The slogan “Helping People. Changing Lives.” will be used in various forms to help communicate the DMCOC mission.

“We are excited to have participated in the logo design contest. Graphic designer Matt Leefers prepared this logo and it will represent DMCOC for many years in the future,” said Carolyn Ridenour, President of Creative Media Services, Inc.
